Returns & Refunds policy

Please note: due to the high returning costs, I am unable to accept returns from outside of the European Union. So please be sure about purchasing your new instrument. All information below applies to returns within the European Union. Thank you for your understanding.

I stand behind my work, and I'm confident you'll love your flute. If, for any reason, you're not completely satisfied, you can just return your flute within 14 days and I will give you a full refund:

  • You do not have to give a reason for returning, but your feedback is welcome

  • Contact me as soon as possible if you want to return your flute, no later than 14 days after arriving

  • Was your flute damaged or faulty? I'll refund all shipping costs

  • You'll receive your refund within 7 business days after I receive the flute

When can I return a flute?

All flutes, except those with custom work, are eligible for returning. Starting the day you received the item, you have 14 days for testing it and deciding if it meets your expectations. If you decide on returning a flute, send me an email with your request to return it. If you're not sure you want to keep a flute, treat it with extra care as if you were testing it in a store. Make sure the flute is preserved in its original condition. If it is returned in a damaged, incomplete or used condition it can be refused for returning or a repair fee can be charged. Make sure to pack the flute in sufficient bubble wrap and put it in a sturdy carboard box, so it is capable of withstanding a 1,5m drop without being damaged, or make sure it meets the packing guidelines of the carrier of your choice. You are responsible for the risk of returning the flute and therefore I strongly advise to ensure the flute for its full value in case it gets lost or damaged during transport. Make sure to hold on to your proof of sending untill I have informed you that I received the flute. Like this you will be able to file a claim with the carrier in case something goes wrong.

Custom orders

My return guarantee applies to all flutes that are readily available in, and bought through the flute store on this website. Because of the difficulty I have in reselling flutes that have been customly build, or customized to your specific needs, I cannot receive these as a return, or give you a refund for them. Thank you for understanding.

Return procedure

You have 14 days to decide on returning a flute without reason, starting the day you received it. A flute will only be refunded for its full value if I receive it in its original, undamaged and complete condition. If you want to return an item, just follow this procedure:

  1. Contact me within 14 days after receiving the flute using the contact form, or send an email to jelmer@blackbirdflutes.com

  2. I will reply and tell if you are eligible for returning the product. If this is the case, I will send you the address.

  3. Pack the flute in sufficient bubble wrap and put it in a sturdy carboard box, so it is capable of withstanding a 1,5m drop without being damaged, or make sure it meets the packing guidelines of the carrier of your choice. The customer is responsible for damage when returning the flute.

  4. After receiving and inspecting the flute, I will inform you if it is accepted for return, if a repair fee needs to be charged, or I will just give you a full refund.

  5. Within 7 business days of receiving the flute I will refund the amount due to your original form of payment, unless you agree to receiving it by another method. The refund is without any additional cost.

Who is paying shipping costs?

In case you received a damaged or faulty item, shipping costs for returning it are 100% refunded. In all other cases you have to pay for the shipping costs yourself. If you received a damaged or faulty item, please contact me with documentation (pictures etc.) of the issue so I can assess the situation. If you're not satisfied or you accidentally ordered the wrong product, the cost associated to returning it are for your account. If you ordered a product based on faulty information on my website, of course this is my fault and I will also fully refund the cost for returning the flute.
